Hi!
We are Sabina and Lucas Dynek, a traveling couple currently based in Ontario, Canada. Our home here serves as the perfect base for our road trips—both big and small—across Canada and the USA. Over a decade ago, we arrived on a Work and Travel visa to experience life on this side of the globe.
Our journey has been defined by legendary milestones. In 2017, we checked a major dream off our list by driving the iconic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles. However, in 2024, we pushed our boundaries even further: we embarked on an epic 20,000 km expedition all the way to Alaska and the Arctic Ocean. It was a breathtaking journey through some of the most remote and spectacular landscapes in North America. With so many more dreams still to chase, we created this blog to document our experiences, share our lessons from the road, and preserve these lifelong memories.
„Two Halves of the Globe” is about us—a humanist and an engineer traveling together, not just through the world, but through life. While we have our own individual passions, we share a deep love for exploring the world together. We truly are two halves of a whole. Lucas loves to drive and knows exactly how to fix a car if it breaks down. I love the planning—connecting cities on a map and uncovering hidden gems along the way. Lucas values the practical; I look for the magical. In the end, our trips are a perfect blend of both, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
They say you don’t truly know your partner until you live together. Similarly, we believe you can’t truly know a country until you’ve lived in it for a while. That’s why our blog also features reflections on the North American reality surrounding us. In many ways, this life is very different from the one we grew up with in Poland, Europe.
On this blog, we write about:
- The most beautiful places we’ve discovered on our travels.
- Practical tips and solutions for planning your own road trips.
- The adventures we’ve had while exploring North America.
- The cultural differences between America and Europe, as well as the unique distinctions between the USA and Canada.
- Our journey toward becoming Canadian citizens… while still keeping our hearts open to future horizons.
While our posts are written in our native Polish, we invite you to browse our photos—perhaps you’ll find some inspiration for your own next trip! If you have any questions or want to recommend a „must-see” spot, feel free to reach out to us.
